Many people may recognize this treatment option as Ozempic, Wegovy or Rybelsus. Although Semaglutide was originally considered for the treatment of Type II diabetes recent studies have indicated that it has been a powerhouse for weight reduction. Unfortunately, oral semaglutide is a tad less effective in weight loss than the injection. Never fear though becuase we offer both types! 

Semaglutide is effective because it reduces your appetite, increases insulin discharge while lowering your blood sugar. It may reduce the risk of major heart and vascular events and chronic kidney disease. 

It is given by a self-administered (you give yourself the shot) injection once a week under the skin of the belly, thigh, or the upper arm (Drugs.com, 2025). 

On the day that you decide, prepare the injection when you are ready to give it and ensure to inject in a different location than you did last week (Do not give in the same place two times in a row).

If you choose a different injection day, be sure to start your new schedule at least 2 days since the last injection that you gave. For example: If you gave the injection on a Monday do not take another injection before Wednesday, as a matter of a fact just take another one on Thursday to be safe!

You can choose the option of the oral suspension placed under your tongue daily. 

First things first, be on the look out for low blood sugar! 

-This feels like: being dizzy, feeling super hungry, irritable, or shaky/ jittery. 

-To treat this....EAT!!!! You can eat candy, a meal, crackers, fruit. 

Next, if you notice an allergic reaction

-This looks like a rash/ hives, itching, dizziness, fast heartbeats, difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. 

-To treat this...........CALL 911 or report to the emergency department.

It is best to start low and slow, then gradually increase the dose once weight loss is no longer noticed or your weight plateaus.
